One pound of extract grade Tahitian vanilla beans grown in Papua New Guinea.
Tahitian vanilla beans are a mutation of the original vanilla bean from Mexico. They add a sweet, floral note. Give them a try when you want to experiment a little! These Grade B beans are perfect for making vanilla extract. If you wish to slice the beans and scrape out the caviar, we suggest that you purchase the moister Grade A beans.

Below: Hand pollinating vanilla beans. The orchid must be pollinated within 24 hours of blooming or else it will fall off the vine. Vanilla beans are native to Mexico and were pollinated by a bee native to Mexico. The bee was not able to survive outside of Mexico, and vanilla bean production did not take off until hand pollinating was perfected.
